Our community voice to build self-reliance
Preparing - Responding - Recovering
Main Arm Disaster Recovery Inc. is a community-run organisation building self-reliance across the Brunswick Valley in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales.
MADR is focussed on extreme weather and other events that have the potential to isolate the community, and require swift action to keep the community safe.
These events include cyclones, heatwaves, storms, floods and wildfires.
MADR is a source of information, and connections to resources, so that we are well Prepared prior to an event
And in the few days following the event, when the community is likely to be isolated from other assistance and an immediate Response if required, MADR is here to step-up.
The Recovery phase, like the one that we are in now following the February/March 2022 Storm, is a long-haul. MADR has a role to advocate on behalf of the Community and to be a unified (and loud) voice to ensure that the Brunswick Valley gets the attention of those making the decisions to mobilise resources and prioritise efforts.
MADR represents residents along the upper-catchment of the Brunswick River to the east, north, west and south of Main Arm Village including:
- Palmwoods Road
- Blindmouth Road
- Dry Creek Road
- Motts Road
- Middle Ridge Road
- South Chowan Road and
- Main Arm Road, Upper Main Arm
